Definition

Item - represents an individual service that is created from an Item Template.

Usage

Clicking on the Items option in the left-hand pane brings up a tabular view of all of the Items you have setup within your WorkRails instance.

Create

  • To create a new Item, click the "Add Item" button.

  • Select the Item Template you want to use from the drop-down.

  • Click "Create".

  • In the Item creation view, give your item a Name, Description, and Label.

  • You may update any Fields with default state, such as pricing values, content, and field mapping values to 3rd party systems such as Salesforce.com.

  • After you have updated your Fields with default state, click on the "Submit" button to save the Item.

Clone

  • To clone an existing Item, highlight an Item in the table, click the Actions pane, and select "Clone".

  • This will create a cloned representation of the existing Item that you have selected, and will pre-populate it with details that you can then override.

  • After you have updated your Fields, click on the "Submit" button to save the Item.

Edit

  • To clone an existing Item, highlight an Item in the table, and click on the Item Name.

  • This will bring you into the Item edit screen, where you can modify the Item as needed.

  • After you have finished your updates, click on the "Submit" button to save the Item.

Note: If your Item is associated with any Catalogs, changes will take place immediately. Be sure to properly test Sandbox Items before making changes to corresponding Production Items.

Delete

  • To clone an existing Item, highlight an Item in the table, click the Actions pane, and select "Delete".

  • This will prompt a dialog box that asks you to confirm the deletion of that Item.

Note: Deleting an Item is irreversible and will be removed from any associated Catalogs immediately. Do not delete an existing Item unless you are certain you want the Item removed.
